Export

This service is available - please contact us for a quote.

Recent exportations carried out: Bermuda and Cyprus.

All documentation can be carried out, including microchipping, pet passports etc.

There will however be additional charges payable at the airport of destination to cover costs for such items as airline import handling, customs clearance and veterinary charges. As these fees are payable in country of destination, and we are unable to pay them on your behalf, they are not included in the quote.

Prices are dependent on the size/weight of the animal(s) to be exported, any additional services (such as UK transportation, kenneling, and veterinary certification), flight time and the destination. In the case of dogs, the box size provided is based on the measurements given to us. Should these measurements be incorrect we accept no responsibility for any delay or extra costs involved as a result.

Animals must be shipped in containers built to IATA specifications which are the correct size for them i.e. they must be large enough for the animal to stand up without touching the top of the box, lie down comfortably and be able to turn round within the box. There must also be a fixed water container inside the container with a means of filling it from the outside (funnel). Examples of sizings are available here. How to measure your pet is available here.

You may be able to take your pet as excess baggage, which would mean booking direct with passenger reservations. This is sometimes a cheaper option (please note that some airlines cannot take livestock and that there may be restrictions such as standby status depending on the airline and the route). However should the animal(s) be a particularly large shipment (in Airline terms) or coping with the animal(s) at the same time as the move be particularly difficult then we can offer the cargo option along with other services including collection, kenneling and Export Health Certification.

Whatever the mode of travel, pets will go into the cargo hold of the aircraft. This is heated and pressurised to the same extent as the passenger cabin. The animals are loaded into the hold approximately half an hour before departure (however the airline requires that they are delivered to them between 4 and 5 hours prior to the flight) and are unloaded at the other end usually within half an hour of the plane landing. Once the documents are available the animals can be cleared through customs. The handling/vet fees are then payable to the Import Shed Operator at which point the animals can be collected and taken home.
